But I donated the computer to this school because it is a poor school. There were only fifteen students at first. I though that I should shed some light to these innocent souls. I don’t want the flowers bloomed in the forest to be wilted in the forest. I believe that these children will get the utmost from the donation. There are clever students in this school. I hope that they will be benefited from the donation. We earn our living by labour. I though that it will cost more for the school bus for my child if he does to a school far from here. Today a lot of small children were happy. At least they didn’t feel hungry. I am also happy as much as they are. My child schools at Malalgoda Siri Seevali school This school is located in the Imaduwa divisional secretariat in Galle district. Children who get the education from this school are of poor parents. The school was closed for a period of nearly one year and was reopened with the help of the villagers. Today there is a new light to this school. A computer has been donated by a parent of a child in this school. Today we saw that how enthusiastic the children were when the computer was operated in the classroom. We are highly pleased as parents in a low income village as this. Today’s lesson was colour selection and constitution. Under that, the colour matching lesson was done today. There the computer was of great help as a teaching aid. Actually I could do a very successful lesson when it is done with the computer. The students very keenly participated to the lesson. For me it was less tiring and the attention of the students to the lesson was very high as well. None complained on being hungry although the lesson was conducted exceeding the lunch interval, they stayed very willingly. Now the time is 12:40PM. The students have gone to homes by this time in other days. The class is over by 11:30AM. But today, the children are very willingly stay here even without asking to go home. Because it is a pleasure to the children to learn through the computer. But we have only one computer which is an issue for us. Every student asks to work in the computer. But due to the limitations one by one student is given the chance. If we had at least another four computers, I believe that we will be able to conduct a very successful lesson. For the colour matching lesson, I could get a great service through the educational applications in Hanthana Linux software. Because Hanthana Linux contains a very beautiful series of lessons which attract the small children. I selected these lessons from there. Students very keenly and willing participated in the lesson. Hanthana Linux is a free software. It is not charged. This free software package is of great use. I am also an old girl of this school. Two of my children schooled here. The school was closed and reopened. My child is in grade one. I am very happy and happy to see the school develop in the future as well. These are the tears of happiness and I am wordless. I am very much happy and believe that there will be more donations and supports to develop the school. The teacher is very good. She came from another school in which the parents there influence a lot to bring back the teacher to their school. But she is willing to stay here. This commitment was done by the principal and the parents. Today the children are not willing to go home, they are enjoying working with the computer. I am also an old girl of this school. With the district school scheme there was a tendency that the children were not taken to the schools nearby. With that the parents had this idea to reopen the school. Through a lot of hardships in day and night, twelve to fifteen mothers together built this school. At present 15 children get education in this school and there are two teachers. One of the child’s mother donated a computer to this school. Today I saw that the children are getting a good knowledge through the computer. There are fifteen students in the school and it is easy for the teacher as well to teach through the computer. Parents work hard for the betterment of the children. There has been no support so far from the government. Opening of a school is a closing of a prison. Therefore I believe that it is a merit to participate in such activities. I hope that most of the people may have seen what has happened in the prisons in the lat couple of days. Therefore I request the commitment of all to make a better tomorrow for these children. Malalgoda Siri Seevali school in Imadura divisional secretariat is a primary school temporary closed and reopened. At present there are about 15 students in grade one. Today we were able to introduce computer technology to teach the curriculum in grade one. It is a great pleasure. This can be considered as a good example because it is easy for the primary students to grasp the the learning concepts through the computer. It can be easily verified by the teacher as well as by the students. I highly appreciate the Hanthana Linux team, being here and for their service. This not only for the division but for the whole school system is an example for using this technology in teaching where there concepts of the lessons can be easily grasped. If anyone, specially the primary teachers can use this software to teach students, they can be very successfully taught the the lessons. Primary education, specially grade one is where we establish concepts in students. If you can taught the lessons though these software in the computer, I believe that we can very effectively establish the concepts in the students. You will be less tired but the output will be more effective. We have heard that the best is for children. Today it is almost two weeks from the reopen of the school. Today also is one of the limitless best things to the children. We had the idea on how to make a reality of teaching the lessons to the students through the computer. Thanks to Hanthana Linux operating system, today we make it a reality for the first time in the classroom. There we see the success, the way the students were addicted to this method so willingly. When the concept in grade one such as smallness and largeness, similar figures, colour selection are being taught to the by the teacher with no much tiredness. . students grasp them fantastically. I believe that you will see it yourself, how successful this was, when you all see this video. I invite you all to held hand in hand to the era where the children in villages are exposed to the universal knowledge. If you can donate a used yet usable computer to this innocent children, if you can look into the needs of the school and fulfill them, you become a contributor of the greatest merit in this world.
