Вместо рабочего стола Windows загружается проводник!
В продолжение серии статей о вирусах и последствиях борьбы с ними, хочу рассказать что делать, если вместо рабочего стола Windows вы видите пустой экран или загружается проводник. Рассмотрим случай, когда после загрузки видим пустой рабочий стол, без меню «Пуск», значков и вообще всего нажитого непосильным трудом – одни обои, если они были.
Запускаем рабочий стол Windows вручную
Для начала пробуем запустить рабочий стол вручную. Жмем три волшебных кнопки Ctrl+Alt+Del для вызова диспетчера задач (подразумевается, что он не заблокирован. В противном случае читайте как разблокировать диспетчер задач вручную или с помощью утилиты AVZ .)
В Диспетчере задач идем Файл -> Новая задача (Выполнить. ) и там пишем explorer.exe или просто explorer . Как известно это не только проводник, но также является рабочим столом Windows.
Результатом данного действа может быть ваш любимый рабочий стол (что и требовалось), либо окно проводника (чего никак не ожидали увидеть).
Вместо рабочего стола загружается проводник
Теперь рассмотрим случай, когда при загрузке вместо рабочего стола загружается окно проводника Windows. Первым делом запускаем редактор реестра, так же как запускали проводник, только вместо explorer пишем regedit .
Переходим в ветку реестра:
Нас интересуют ключи Shell, UIHost и Userinit, в которых должны быть строго такие значения (подразумевается, что Windows установлена на диске С: ):
Переходим в следующую ветку реестра:
И если находим в данной ветке ключ Shell, безжалостно его уничтожаем.
Ищем и удаляем, если есть такие ветки:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/Image File Execution Options/explorer.exe]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/Image File Execution Options/iexplorer.exe]
Так же не плохо проверить папку «Documents and Settings\ \Рабочий стол» и удалить там файлы desktop.ini и folder.htt
Выполнив эти действия, вы в 99% восстановите свой рабочий стол. Возможно это не полный перечень действий, и найдутсяе какие-то дополнительные варианты решения проблемы. Буду рад, если вы напишите об этом.

Удаляем программы из списка автозагрузки с помощью редактора реестра
Несмотря на то, что сегодня можно скачать массу оптимизаторов, позволяющих убрать программы из автозапуска, а последние версии Windows и вовсе содержат инструменты для управления этим параметром, использование редактора реестра не утрачивает актуальность.
Дело в том, что от большинства вредоносного ПО просто невозможно избавиться другим путём, ведь после удаления оно начнёт снова устанавливается при следующей загрузке. Однако, удаление определённых файлов из реестра позволит раз и навсегда решить проблему.
Где найти разделы реестра, отвечающие за автозагрузку?
« Выполнить » ( R+Win ) – regedit – клавиша Enter. Таким образом вы попадаете в редактор реестра.
Нас интересует папка Run , расположенная в левой части окна. У новичков может уйти достаточно много времени на её поиск, ведь они не знают, что она расположена по одному из следующих путей:
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – Software – Microsoft – Windows – CurrentVersion — Run
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER — Software – Microsoft –Windows – CurrentVersion – Run
Отмечу, что элементы автозагрузки находятся и в других разделах, но я бы не советовал рядовым пользователям отправляться туда, чтобы не нарушить работу системы.
Попав в нужную папку, вы увидите список файлов. Их имена, как правило, совпадают с названиями программ, загрузка которых и будет происходить при запуске системы. Если ваш компьютер был заражён вредоносным ПО, то здесь вы обнаружите массу названий, состоящих из букв и цифр, расположенных в случайном порядке. Убирайте их все без раздумий, даже если они представляются системными файлами.
Какие программы лучше не трогать?
Ни в коем случае не удаляйте из автозагрузки драйверы, особенно те, которые обеспечивают корректную работу графических процессоров. Это позволит избежать возникновения существенных сбоев и сэкономить время, которые вы бы потратили на возвращение упомянутого ПО в автозапуск.
Есть «хитрые» программы, которые мониторят наличие себя в реестре и добавляются снова в случае удаления. Советую перейти в настройки этого ПО и отключить подобную возможность. Стоит отметить, что аналогичную тактику, чаще всего, используют всякие назойливые бесполезные программы, появившиеся на вашем ПК лишь потому, что вы забыли убрать несколько «галочек» при установке.
Uninstall program list in control panel incomplete after windows update.
Several weeks ago after installing windows updates, I noticed (immediately) the program list in the control panel’s uninstall feature no longer listed all the programs installed on my machine. It now lists only about 20 programs installed and (for example) excludes all of the games I have installed. In an attempt to fix this i first rebooted the PC which did no good. Then I used system restore selecting a restore point before the update. This also failed to help. I reinstalled the updates and moved on. I am now seeking help to get my computer running properly again. To uninstall a program I must search for it and find its uninstall button. I came here after having difficulty finding the uninstall for windows live messenger, a program for which I have no use.

Step 1: To resolve this issue, follow the steps below
a) Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
b) Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
c) Click the folder of the program that has more than 63 characters in the title, right-click DisplayName, and then click Modify.
d) In the Value data box, type a name with less than 63 characters, and then click OK.
e) If the program’s uninstall key name is longer than 63 characters, shorten it also. For example, the following key name is too long: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

I am running Windows 7 pro.
All of the folders listed under that registry key have fewer than 45 characters.
These folders are not the programs missing from the control panel list.
I have never used the registry editor before today.
Some specific programs installed on my machine which are missing from the list include World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, Combat Arms, Skype, Malwarebyte’s Anti-Malware, Mozilla Firefox, Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour, Winamp («Winamp Detector Plug-in» does show however), MS Office 2010 trial, Call of Duty World at War.
There are more of course, these are just some off the top of my head as I look at the uninstall list that do not show.
Here’s all my registry key names in that location in case you can figure something out from them:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Security Essentials
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA Display Control Panel

I face this issue but i follow Ajay K Solution Above +
1- You have to change the display Name to be shorter
2- if you are using arabic language change it to English

My O/S is Win 7, Home Premium x 64. Like » D00mMan,» my uninstall programs list is also incomplete. I am a non-technical guy and feel very uncomfortable making a host of registry changes to correct this problem. Niether do I want to pay someone to do it for me.
It has been over 2 years since » D00mMan» reported this bug . Correcting Microsoft product shortcomings is not a user responsibility. Maybe Microsoft has developed a fast, simple, user friendly fix by now. Please advise.

Yeah, same problem. I doubt it is a registry length problem because 100+ programs in the list suddenly became 20 while I was uninstalling things. I was trying to remove some adware my girlfriend unwittingly installed so I assumed this had something to do with the adware trying to protect itself.
I really don’t want to have to wipe my OS and start again, any help would be really appreciated!
Edit: It seems that the uninstall list is not limited to 20 entries, after reinstalling google chrome it is now #21 on the list, unfortunately all of my other programs are still hidden

I have just had this happen to my Win8 PC. It seems that my kids installed some adware, so I took a screenshot of the ‘Programs and Features’ list (sorted by date) so that I can show them what they’ve done. Then I proceeded to remove the adware. When I was done, I was left with a short list of only 14 programs listed (compared to about 60 previously).
Microsoft, if you would like the ‘before’ and ‘after’ screenshots, I can provide. Also, I can identify the specific adware apps that I removed.

I am a computer Tech,
This thing has happened with me as well couple of times While working on windows8/windows7 computers specially when i am removing an Unwanted program called «VO Package».
So far got no solution for this,
Suddenly the display name of more than 30 prgrames will not get longer than 63 characters.
