How to install windows on lenovo
how to install windows 7 on this. Here’s what i’ve done:
I’ve used both the Windows 7 DVD and i created a bootable USB wiith it (UEFI Boot). They work.
I disabled the security in the bios, so i could work with UEFI, but when i boot the machine with either, the windows 7 loading screen happens, then it freezes on the Starting Windows animated logo. I can get no further.
When i set the bios to boot in legacy mode it gets past that part, but then asks me for a driver. I’ve downloaded all of the windows 7 64 bit drivers on the Y700-15ISK driver page, but none of them seem to be the driver that windows is looking for.
Right now i’m a little at the end of my rope on this. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: how to install windows 7 on lenovo ideapad y700
For Windows 7 to install and boot in UEFI mode you need to turn on CSM support in BIOS. What you describe is typical of missing CSM support — although it could be something else.
If when you boot in legacy mode it says a required CD/DVD driver is missing, you’ll probably need to add USB 3.0 drivers. That will also be the case if you get it to boot in UEFI mode.

You need to «slipstream» the missing USB drivers into the install image. This utility can help you do it:
By the way, there are numerous threads dealing with this topic on this website. If you are still having difficulties, try searching for some of those threads and see if they can help you.

Yeah a lot of drivers missing and will take a lot of work. Not for the faint at heart if you aren’t an IT person stick with what works.
Why on earth would you want be running an unsupported OS. 3 generations back now and the security won’t be nearly as good as Win 8.1 or Win 10 which have supported drivers.
Lots of threads on this as everyone has trouble thats attempted it so you have to search and read what issue people had and fixing them.

Re: how to install windows 7 on lenovo ideapad y700
I use Windows 10 on my Y700 but would only consider it a viable choice if you remove all the spyware, and prevent any automatic updates as they have proven to be a never-ending source of problems. Doing all this properly is a lot of work, assuming you even know how to do it, as it is orders of magnitude more difficult than slipstreaming a Windows 7 driver.
Non-technical people are screwed either way but the OP is going for the better choice here. Any Microsoft product should be realistically treated as unsupported (ever read the «EULA»?) but officially Windows 7 is in fact supported until 2020. Security under Windows is essentially an illusion anyway but regular and free updates will be available for Windows 7 too at least until that date. Arguably, Windows 7 (SP1) is more «supported» than most of the Windows 10 builds, which quickly become obsolete (LTSB excepted).
How to install windows on lenovo
Hi Solid_Cruver. Thanks for explanation. I manage to set to boot up from USB.
I dont understand well next part.
You stated to download some files which are .exe files. Are that files after installation, or during installatin, cause on the link you provide me sais to download some draivers which I put on USB and read/load during partitions settings.
So should I delete all SSD partitions and make one big, than install Windows on HDD, later on install drivers you stated.

Re: How to install Windows 7 on Lenovo S300
Check your BIOS by tapping F2 on startup Make sure under Configuration Tab the SATA Controller is set for RAID
Installation:
Set your computer to Boot on your USB drive(Where your Windows 7 installer is and start the Set up as Normal)
— You will reach a point where it will ask you where to install your windows 7
If it shows none «Like no HDD or SSD Being Detected» Then Download and extract this to a separate USB Drive(using another computer).then plug it in to your S300. Then on the Windows 7 installation click Browse, go to that USB drive and to the folder where you placed that downloaded file, Windows will identify it, make sure it is clicked and click Next. Then all of your drives and respective partitions will appear.
— Delete Partitions On your SSD and HDD
— Create your Partition on the HDD and Install Windows on your HDD then continue and complete as Normal Installation and Reboot.
-You should have Windows 7 booting from your HDD from this point-
Download and install Rapid Storage from the link I provided Above.
Now Launch the Intel Rapid Storage Technology.» This can be found in your Start Menu under the Intel folder. It should be automatically set up to accelerate your main drive. You will also see it has identified your SSD as the proper size, 24GB (24GB).
If not, it is relatively easy to set up. Choose the drive you want to accelerate, and the SSD you want to use as cache.
then your done Caching the HDD to your SSD and make sure to install All driver from Support.lenovo.com.
Rapid Start this is optional if you want to set that up Just follow this method again and continue starting from the Rapidstart part.

How to Reinstall Windows 10
If you are experiencing difficulties, bugs, or other unexpected errors with Windows 10, you can reinstall it without having to format your computer or remove or delete system files. This is known as a repair install or Windows 10 in-place upgrade. To do so, you will need a Windows 10 setup USB drive or DVD. If you do not have a Windows 10 setup drive or DVD, you cannot attempt a repair install or in-place upgrade (note: you can copy a downloaded version of Windows 10 onto a drive or DVD should you not have the original).
To reinstall Windows 10, you must first be able to boot into the operating system. If you are unable to boot into Windows 10, you will not be able to reinstall the operating system without losing system files. Assuming you are able to boot into Windows 10, do so. You can then insert your drive or disc, or run an ISO image and mount it as a virtual DVD. Once complete, run «setup.exe» from your removable drive to begin setup – you may be automatically prompted to do so, but if not, navigate to your drive (or disc) to initiate the process yourself.
As you run through the setup process, you will be prompted to answer a variety of setup-related questions; answer as you see fit, as your answers will be used to tailor Windows 10 to your needs. This holds true for every setup page except for the last – the last page in the Windows 10 repair installation process is arguably the most important. On this page, you will want to make sure you provide specific answers to the provided questions.
On the final setup page, there will be an option that states «Choose what to keep.» Be sure to select the first radio button, labeled «Keep personal files, apps, and Windows settings,» before pressing the «Next» button to begin the repair install. This will ensure that none of your system files or personal data are lost during the reinstallation. Windows 10 will then reinstall with all of your files intact.
How to Reset Windows 10
If you want to reset Windows 10, and you aren’t concerned with losing system data (including personal files), there is a quick and easy way to do so. Within Windows 10, open the Settings application by clicking on the Start menu. Once in Settings, select «Update & Security» and then click on «Recovery.»
You should see multiple options under «Recovery» (including the option to revert back to a previous version of Windows if you’ve recently upgraded). Click the «Get started» button under the option for resetting your PC, and then select «Remove everything.» Remember, this step will wipe all of your files, including personal data. If there is anything you don’t want to lose, be sure to have backups.
Clean installing Windows 10
In some cases, you may want to revert back to a fresh install by reinstalling the operating system from scratch. If you do not wish to keep your personal files, system files, and other data, you can reset Windows 10 by reinstalling it over the existing installation. The simplest way to do this is by booting from your installation disc or drive.
Doing so will overwrite the existing operating system installation. Simply start your computer with the drive or disc already inserted into your computer; once prompted, you can then boot from the drive. As stated above, if you do not have your original Windows 10 setup disc or USB drive, you can download the operating system from Microsoft and copy it to a USB drive or DVD.
