Driver problem: Intel(R) ICH10R LPC Interface Controller — 3A16
I have been trying to install this driver since last night. After the initial install Wednesday, all was beautiful in Device Manager. Yesterday I noticed this problem after having my SoundMax application crashed. SoundMax now works however this problem has appeared. I have this driver but it will not install.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
System specs: Asus P6T Deluxe V2 . most recent BOIS

Corsair XMS3 Triple Channel 1600mhz 6GB
SanDisk Extreme II SDSSDXP — 120G

This system has been stable and fast with the exception of that driver prob.
I did make a BIOS setting change to. «PNP OS»
I almost forgot.. all my drives are listed twice in File Explorer and out of alphabetical order.. Ugh!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We appreciate your interest in installing Windows 10 Technical Preview and sorry for the inconvenience that is caused.
I have come across a document which says, disabling IR in the bios helps. You may try this and check if it helps. Refer to this link: https://communities.intel.com/message/213733#213733
Also try to install the Chipset drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.
Regarding the drives listed twice in File Explorer, please run the System File Checker tool.
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
Try these steps and let us know the results. We’d be happy to help if you need any further assistance.

Isn’t it a floppy drive controller?
Hello and Thanks Babu,
I have the driver problem solved. However, I still have the annoying double drive letters in «File Explorer». I tried SFC /scannow but it did nothing. I tried to reboot into Safe Mode» through MsConfig to run «SFC» but only booted to a Blank screen! I ended up having to do «Windows Repair» and still have the same drive problems. All drives work fine but note how they are listed.. out of sequence, and listed under «This PC» and again under «Libraries». Is this common in Win 10 Preview? I have looked everywhere to rid this redundant drive listing, could not even find it in the System Registry.
Any suggestions would be helpful as I’m really starting to miss Win 7.
Is there anyway to recover any software post Windows recovery. browser bookmarks are the one thing I never backed up! UGH.
