Intel x58 windows 10

Why no support for Intel x58 chipset systems?

Ironically, I have a much older Core 2 Duo rig that went through the upgrade to Win 10 flawlessly and still runs perfectly even after the latest Fast Track Insider Preview upgrade, while a newer and much more capable system using a Core i7 950 simply will not upgrade.

Both MS Tech Desk and the Gigabyte support techs have told me the Intel x58 chipset simply isn’t supported for Windows 10. So it skips a generation then? Why Core 2 Duo and not 1st Gen Core i7. Crazy, man!

X58 is very widely in use! Sadly, it’s no longer supported by Intel or the motherboard manufacturers. Those people who’ve gotten Windows 10 release version or higher to install on theirs have done some hacking of some kind (modded BIOSes or chipset drivers), but I can’t get a bead on what they’ve done anywhere on the internet!

This is is one of those things MS is going to have to do for themselves (via Windows 10 setup) unless they want to leave out a whole raft of people who are otherwise eligible for the upgrade, but are simply orphaned by the hardware companies.

It’s just so strange that the (past end-of-life) Core 2 Duo upgraded without complaint! I fully didn’t expect that.

Well, your failure on a Core 2 Duo may have been a one-off. I’ve been running Win 10 on a Core 2 Duo rig since early builds of Insider Preview, and it has never failed to upgrade (even with the post-RTM Fast circle releases).

OTOH, people everywhere running upgrade-eligible Windows installations on LGA 1366 (or Socket B) motherboards with Intel X58 chipsets are finding that Windows 10 setup fails after the first reboot with the message:

We couldn’t install Windows 10
We’ve set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10.

0xC1900101 — 0x20017
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation

Of course it doesn’t clean up its installation mess, though that’s easy enough with the clean disk utility.

Apparently this is a known issue, and is deliberate on MS’s/Intel’s part (as a result of the KB3064209 update) . Why, I do not know (and can’t imagine), since it is *so* not the right thing to do. See here (Including the referenced link to another thread on KB3064209) :

FWIW, all of the individual past-End Of Life components on these boards (sound, SATA, network, USB 3, etc.), have drivers that are known to work in Win 10, at least minimally (sometimes minus a management console), so there’s really no excuse, IMHO.

If anyone reading this has connections at MS, I’d really like an explanation of why Bloomfield-era systems are being excluded from the Windows 10 Upgrade when they are running eligible Windows installations, and the Get Windows 10 applet’s «Check this PC» wizard returns a verdict that the system is ready to upgrade! A little light in this dark corner would be so welcome.

Intel x58 windows 10

Вопрос

I’m experiencing intermittent slowdows when transferring data between discs. Sometimes the transfer slows down to 0 Mb/s even. This seems to be a common problem on Windows 10. My Event log shows ‘storahci’ errors, like

«Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued.» (No actual RAID id being used, althought it sports both the ICH10 and ICH10R, of course)

So, I tried to upgrade my Intel drivers; but the setup Fails with ‘Unknown error’, and the log says:

«Error 0x80070643: Failed to install MSI package.» It seems to be calling:

SetupChipsetx64.msi MSIFASTINSTALL=»7″ IIF_MSI_SWITCHES=»» ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=»1″

So, how do I install this package?! Thx.

I totally understand your feeling, this issue must cause to you too much inconvenience.

Maybe my previous explaination is not clear.

The key point is to make sure hardware devices work fine , we need install compatible drivers released by manufacturer on Windows.

Did ASUS release the Windows 10 compatible drivers for your model machine ?

According to my research, I have not find Windows 10 compatible drivers released by ASUS or Intel yet.

These links above just for your reference, please contact to the manufacturer support to confirm it.

Thanks for your understanding.

What is your exact hardware configurations?

According to my research, Intel X58 Chipset is quite old and may be out of support.

It may be not compatible with your current system.

Please try to download and install the Windows 10 compatible driver for your model machine from the manufacturer website.

If there is no compatible driver for Windows 10, I am afraid that we need to revert to previous version of Windows.

Best regards

I have run windows 10 since 2015 and it ran great on my old x58 machine, but after microsoft released the creator update it has only gone one way and thats down.

After that update i have had random blue screen with something like watchdog violation, and 3 fatal crashed where i had to install every thing from shratch. Last crash happen today. I just installed a new driver cause the old one where outdated and my weekly deleting of old files and virus scan.

Then restarted pc and then it just hang in a reboot and after some attemps it tryed auto boot fix and that cut not do any thing about. So hard reset pc and now pc cut not even find boot drive any more and that has happen 3 times now with fatal crash with out no reason with in a few monfhs second crash happen back in december 2017 and before creator update it ran flawless on my pc. Microsoft has screwed some thing up with creator update and the creator update has made wondows 10 to dam unstable for my taste.

So now my patiens its over for now and my nerves cant take any more of it so ass we speak i am rolling back to windows 7 again after else have using windows 10 since august 2015.

Have other had same problem or problems that made windows 10 crash with out any gopd reason for the crash and no way to recover it with even cmd or system restore funktion?
