GETTING MMD TO WORK ON WINDOWS 10!
Let’s start off with a great backstory of my struggle;
I recently updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8, and it was just a refresh, meaning it kept all my files. The first thing I did was open MMD; It worked beautifully, maybe better than Windows 8. It was like a damn dream; Until my
parents who need to use my laptop constantly since they don’t have their own complained about it running slow. So, I ran a disk clean up, and updated my drivers. As it turns out, DRIVERS CANNOT BE UPDATED WITH WINDOWS 10. THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. I got an
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error, and literally spent 2 entire days, including night hours, desperately running troubleshooting with Command Prompt and fixing the «Blue Screen of Death». I ran chkdsk, and reset Windows while once again, keeping my files. I had finally fixed it, after half a cake, a thousand cups of coffee and 48 hours without sleep. All my programs were uninstalled, so, I went out and got everything back. Then, I open MMD. Errors. I fix those errors; MORE ERRORS. I run it as admin and try 4 different Compatibility modes, still broken. Pmde and Pmxe won’t work, and DANGANRONPA ALSO STOPPED WORKING! I instantly knew there was something wrong, either with a setting, a program, or maybe MMD isn’t compatible with Windows 10. But why was it able to run after the refresh? I spent 3 more days (Not day and night, like the BSoD incident), and came up with nothing. I contacted Microsoft support twice, they said to re-install Windows
AGAIN! ALL MY PROGRAMS HAD TO BE UNINSTALLED, AGAIN! They made me wipe out more than half of my files to do a backup and save it on my external drive, and told me to come back once I did that. I asked about C++ And .NET Framework, they just said it won’t fix it. I explore the program files, and notice that C++ is missing. I re-download EVERY VERSION, And BOOM! Everything
was resolved. I’ve been seeing a lot of people with this problem, so I’m here to help you guys out so you don’t waste precious days of your life battling against Microsoft’s grasp.
WHEN MMD WILL NOT WORK ON WINDOWS 10; DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNTS AND COMPATIBILITY MODE.
C++ WAS WIPED OUT ALONG WITH DIRECTX, THESE ARE VITAL FOR MMD TO WORK, CONSIDERING MMD IS ONE OF THOSE DIRECTX «GAMES».
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK, FOLLOW THESE STEPS;
1. Check your programs, and find everything with C++ in the title. Look for these;
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable (x86)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable (x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable (x86)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable (x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable (x86)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable (x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable (x86 and x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86 and x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Update 2 Redistributable (x86 and x64)
2. Make a list of the ones you don’t have, and find out if you’re running 32-bit or 64 bit by going to Control Panel> System & Security> System. Only the x86 versions will work on 32-bit and you need both x86 and x64 for 64-bit systems like mine. From there, download the ones needed. DO NOT OVERWRITE THE SETUP FILES OR DELETE THEM!
3. Now, you have to install DirectX again to avoid the d3dx9_32.dll error. The link can be found here;

4. Just to be safe, re-install .NET Framework. I don’t think this is tied to MMD, but it could help in the future.

Choose the one you’d like (or if you’re insane, all of them) and go through that installation.
Now, you can start up MMD and see that it works like a charm! But, you can also restart your computer after the installations
if you’d like.
NOTE; THIS IS TO FIX THE SIDE-BY-SIDE CONFIGURATION ERROR FOR ALL PLATFORMS, AND THE d3dx9_32.dll ERROR, AND MAYBE ANY OTHER ERRORS YOU MIGHT HAVE WHEN STARTING MMD. ALSO; DO NOT GO LOOKING FOR MISSING .DLL FILES ON RANDOM WEBSITES, AS THESE CAN HAVE VIRUSES AND MALWARE, AND AREN’T ACTUALLY GIVEN TO YOU BY MICROSOFT,THEREFORE THEY ARE NOT SAFE TO USE.
Other troubleshooting steps you can take;
-Re-downloading MMD isn’t going to do crap. MMD is not a program you literally install, so there’s no freaking point of wasting your time and internet connection with downloading it again. This isn’t a step, but I HAVE to get this off my chest! It’s so goddamn annoying when people tell me to just re-download 
-Try running MMD as an Administrator if you have problems with permissions, or use the Admin account that shows up when you start up your computer.
If it isn’t available, do this to get it out of hiding;
1. Open CMD (Command Prompt) as an Administrator by right-clicking on it and selecting «Run as Administrator».
2. Type in; net user administrator /active:yes (With the spaces). It should say that the command was completed successfully.
3. Go to the sign in page with all the accounts and select the admin account.
4. Once you are done, go back to your actual account and open CMD as admin again, and type; net user administrator /active:no .
PLEASE DO NOT DO EVERYTHING ON THE ADMIN ACCOUNT AS IT IS UNSAFE AND NOT RECOMMENDED. IT SHOULD ONLY BE USED IN TROUBLESHOOTING, AND EMERGENCIES.
-Run in Compatibility Mode. Do this by right clicking the MMD .exe file and going to properties> Compatibility> Run Compatibility Troubleshooter
and follow the directions, or you can go straight to the checkbox that says «Run this program in Compatibility Mode for;» And choose the operating system
MMD previously worked with. Then click on Apply, and Ok.
As far as I know, Windows 10 will not affect MME in any way, unless if you changed your graphics driver or something of the sort. Heck, Windows 10 goes perfectly
with MMD, the graphics are improved, and I’ve noticed that it became more «powerful» in a way; When I loaded 2 of the same models for my Angelic Layer OC in Widnows 8, the physics made it really slow and laggy.
With Windows 10, I was actually able to load 4 OF THE SAME MODEL and it the playback/overall speed was unaffected. With PMDE/PMXE on the other hand, I haven’t tested them out thoroughly yet, but the same applies for them too.

Total Success Running MMD on Win 10 64-bit! MikuMikuDance
I ordered a “gamers” 64-bit Windows 10 PC from a refurbisher on eBay. It arrived on Friday afternoon (yesterday); I plugged it in and started to learn about Windows 10. I had only ever run Windows XP and Vista (Vista on an inexpensive ACER laptop with too little RAM). XP has been my mainstay for well over a decade. Trying to figure out Win 10, after XP, was like trying to learn a new language! All of the elements were there but in new places using, perhaps, different names and different menus to find them.
Update 8/12/19: A few new MMD users report that 64-Bit MMD does not run with 64-bit MME on Windows 10 machines. It may be that a recent Microsoft Windows 10 update has caused this issue. So, if 64-bit MMD isn’t running with MME on your Windows 10 computer, please try to run the 32-bit MMD… with the appropriate 32-bit C++ Redistributables… and use the matching 32-bit MME download. Please leave a comment to let me know if that works for you!

Then, this morning, I started to add MikuMikuDance to my new Win 10 PC. I went to the LearnMMD.com Downloads page and downloaded MMD 9.31×64 … and then I downloaded MME v037x64 “in English” (It’s important that both MMD and MME “match”: both must be 32-bit or both must be 64-bit.)
Then I took a look at that orange chart, there, on the downloads page that shows you what OTHER software MMD needs to have installed. I downloaded the DirectX 9c Runtime, C++ 2008 Redistributable for 64-bit, and the C++ 2010 Redistributable for 64-bit.
First and only Hiccup… DirectX Runtime installation
I ran the DirectX executable that I had downloaded… and it asked me “Where” to place the 
files it was about to download. I had no idea. So, I went back to LearnMMD.com and the main Troubleshooting article… and it told me to place a new folder named TMP onto my C drive. I did so… and then returned to that question, clicked BROWSE… and navigated my way to that TMP folder.
That DirectX Runtime then finished its installation without another incident.
I then unzipped the C++ 2008 Redistributable and installed that software.
Next: the C++ 2010 software.
Then I dragged the MMD zip folder to my Desktop and unzipped it… “Extract All”… and found my new MMD folder on the Desktop. … I did the same with the MME zip folder. I opened that new MME folder and did a drag-and-drop to put the three DLLs into the same folder as the MikuMikuDance.exe file.
Finally: MikuMikuDance!
I opened that new MMD folder… and tried to open MikuMikuDance.
SUCCESS! … MMD opened and looked great and that little MMEffect was where it belonged: in the upper right corner of my screen.
FAST Computer!
Knowing I had a whiz-bang new computer, I tried loading the Sample(All Stars).pmm sample dance. In just a couple of blinks, it was loaded and on-screen. I was ALREADY further-along than what my old XP computer could usually accomplish! Almost every time, it used to “lock-up” when I tried to open that dance. My new Windows 10 “gamers” computer was able to play that dance at between 56- and 58-frames per second! (When my old XP DID play this dance, it was at, maybe, 2- or 3-fps!)
Doin’ the Sparkly Happy Dance!
For my next trick, I dragged the new Mikumikudance.exe file and it’s DATA folder into my old, existing MMD folder. I then did a drag-and-drop to move those three new DLLS into that old folder to replace the old 32-bit DLLs.
I opened MMD… It worked perfectly. … I was JAZZED!
Next, I opened my most MME effect-heavy saved dance… and… it opened quickly and ran just fine at 60-fps.
I had total success running MMD on Win 10 64-bit!

У нас на сайте есть модели для MMD. Добавляйте нас в закладки! Кстати, доверяй, но проверяй — мы рекомендуем проверять программы, скачанные в сети, на Dr.Web или VirusTotal онлайн. Серьезно, сейчас полно дряни в инсталляторах развелось (хотя у нас нет). Надо поднимать комп. грамотность. Иногда к нам на сайт заходят с вирусных поисковиков типа Нигмы или Мэйл ру поиск. Чистить от этой дряни комп надо AdwCleaner. Короче, целый пост про всё это сделали — читайте.
Также вот набор библиотек, если MMD не работает:
Программа MMD на русском языке существует не только у нас, но другая для сильно устаревшей версии и мы снимаем с себя ответственность, если вы это скачаете: раздача. Хотя разобраться в англ. можно быстро, даже если не знаете языка. Материал в тематической группе может помочь. Далее озаботьтесь наличием на компьютере необходимого программного обеспечения. На компьютере запускаются современные игры? Если нет, то предстоит установить DirectX 9 (ссылка выше) и свежие драйвера для видеокарты (введите в поисковик фразу «скачать драйвер» и название видеокарты). Для распаковки программы MMD потребуется архиватор, например такой. Шаг 2:

Скачанный архив с MMD извлекаем в корневую папку диска, то есть обычно C:\ или D:\ В силу специфичности программы менять каталог не рекомендуется. Если скачаете в дальнейшем модели, они направятся в папку UserFile/Model, аксессуары пойдут в папку UserFile/Accessory. Если все же решите устанавливать программу куда-то еще, проследите, чтобы путь до папки был не на русском языке и без сложных символов. Японский софт — штука такая! Вот такая простая у mmd установка, энжой.
