4A Games наконец-то выпустила Metro 2033 Redux и Metro: Last Light Redux в версиях для Linux и SteamOS. Оба проекта поддерживают Steam Play, так что, если ранее вы уже приобрели их для Windows, версии для Linux и SteamOS будут автоматически добавлены в вашу библиотеку.
Студия также подтвердила, что адаптировала переиздания под Linux собственными силами и сохранила в них все особенности DirectX 11, включая SAA, Motion Blur и NVIDIA PhysX. Для работы последней вам понадобится видеокарта с поддержкой соответствующей технологии. Ниже приведены системные требования для запуска Metro 2033 Redux и Metro: Last Light Redux на Linux, а также SteamOS.
Минимальная конфигурация компьютера:
• Операционная система: 64-битная Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04 или Steam OS;
• Процессор: Intel Core i5 2.7 ГГц (или эквивалентный AMD);
• Оперативная память: 4 Гб;
• Видеокарта: NVIDIA Geforce 460/AMD 5850 с 2 Гб видеопамяти;
• Версия Open GL: OpenGL 4;
• Жесткий диск: 10 Гб свободного пространства.
Рекомендованная конфигурация компьютера:
• Операционная система: 64-битная Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04 или Steam OS;
• Процессор: Intel Core i7 2.5 ГГц (или эквивалентный от AMD);

Как запустить Metro Last Light в wine под Linux
Metro Last Light шутер от первого лица с отличной графикой и интересным сюжетом был представлен в 2013 году. Игра основана на книгах о постапокалиптическом будущем Дмитрия Глуховского. Многие поклонники игры пытались запустить ее в Linux. У кого не получилось запустить игру в wine читаем ниже как это сделать.
Все новые игры предъявляют высокие требования к железу а также к программному обеспечению и расходуют большое колличество ресурсов ПК.
Игра была запущена в Linux Mint 17.1 и WINE 2.0
Так что нужно прежде всего обновить видеодрайвер под видеокарту с официального сайта или из репозитория.
Дальше скачать и установить самую свежую версию wine.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install —install-recommends winehq-devel
/.wine с необходимыми для работы файлами.
Также установим winetricks:
sudo apt-get install winetricks
С помощью winetricks установим нужные библиотеки windows для игры.
winetricks d3dx10 d3dx9 msxml3 physx vcrun2010 xact xact_jun2010 directx9
Представлен обновлённый сборник Metro 2033 и Metro: Last Light на Linux, Windows и новых консолях
23 мая, в пятницу, украинская 4A Games и немецкая Deep Silver в преддверии выставки E3 анонсировали сборник Metro Redux, в котором выйдут постаппокатиптические шутеры от первого лица Metro 2033 и Metro: Last Light с улучшенной графикой, новыми возможностями и всеми ранее вышедшими обновлениями. Комплект выйдет в продажу летом на консолях Xbox One и PlayStation, как и для пользователей Windows. Релиз для GNU/Linux и SteamOS ожидается позже в этом году. Предзаказ можно оформить уже сейчас.
Перевыпуск Metro 2033 Redux состоится на последней версии графического движка 4A Engine, применявшегося в Metro: Last Light, что добавит в игру динамическое изменение погоды, повышенную детализацию и анимацию персонажей, а также улучшит модель разрушения, сложность освещения, эффекты дыма, огня и прочих частиц. В перевыпуске Metro: Last Light Redux добавятся новые анимации ближнего боя и все ранее выпущенные дополнения, добавляющие ещё 10 часов игрового процесса в одиночной игре. А по просьбе фанатов в игре обнаружатся и способности «Проверка инвентаря» и «Проверка часов».
Также обе игры получат режимы «Выживание» и «Спартанец» с дополнительными сложностями в игре (поумневшими противниками, длительной перезарядкой и меньшим количеством ресурсов) и игре с меньшими преградами, соответственно. Продвинутым же игрокам вернут режим «Рейнджер» с отключённым вспомогательным интерфейсом.
Со вчерашнего дня можно оформить предзаказ на Metro 2033 Redux или Metro: Last Light Redux за 449 рублей, или оформить предварительный заказ на обе игры за 899 рублей в сервисе цифровой дистрибуции Steam. Там же владельцы ранее выпущенных изданий получат 50% скидку на переиздания, а также 25% на набор из обеих игр Redux. Коробочные версии сборника Metro Redux с обеими играми будут доступны после выхода, объявленная цена для западных игроков — $24.99, €19.99 или £15.99, стоимость издания в странах России и странах СНГ пока не разглашалась.

Both Metro 2033 Redux & Metro Last Light Redux now have Linux icons on Steam, but they aren’t currently downloadable. Looks like someone either forgot a switch or two.
Someone actually emailed in to ask us to notify people of this horrific scam taking place. Sarcasm aside, it happens a lot, and it’s due to how many switches you need to hit on the Steam control panels or something.
Steam itself is saying it’s out now: 
Considering they are on sale right now too, it’s probably legit, but the developers forgot to make the download completely public. We will update you when we have more folks.
Ps. If it was you who said it was a scam, please take this as a joke, really! We like to make light of annoying situations.
About the games
Both FPS games have been revamped, and this time Metro 2033 is available on Linux for the first time thanks to it using a newer engine.

I only bought this because it displayed that it was going to be for Linux. What a load of crap.
Yes, yes it was. But remember you could get a refund and in the future just do what I’m doing!
1. Game needs a Linux icon.
2. The release date needs to be confirmed officially as being for all platforms. Otherwise, assume it is just for Faildoze. XD
I got it 50% off from the discount they were doing, so if I get a refund, I have to pay full price later. So, I’m better off taking their middle finger like a little bitch.
However, they did put an announcement on their website. You have to remember.. this forum is community forum, not official. They’re not required nor obligated to check or use these forums. I just wish I would have read their announcement beforehand, so I’d be less upset over the late release date, since I thought them labeling Linux on the pre-order meant that it’d be an all-OS release at once.

Same, that’s why I didn’t get my refund, I figure I’d rather donate less for them fumbling the Linux version, but still donate soooooome to them for the work as I still appreciate that part of it and want to see higher-end graphics being pushed on Linux.
I’m aware of their website statement but that’s no excuse. They definitely should have made the release date properly communicated on their *Steam* store front. Putting a single release date and then saying «it’s for Linux and Windows», when actually the release date is ONLY for Windows is either ripping off gamers, mismanagement, or poor communication. I don’t have to look at their website, nor should anyone, when on Steam. If it’s on Steam and Steam tells me it’s for Linux and shows a release date that isn’t true for Linux, of course that’s deceitful for us Steam Linux gamers.
Valve needs to update their game pages to show individual release dates. Even if they don’t though, devs could still put the different release dates, or give general ETRs, in the game detail section.

Nah I think the only steps necessary for pre-ordering for Linux are these two:
1. Game needs a Linux icon.
2. The release date needs to be confirmed officially as being for all platforms. Otherwise, assume it is just for Faildoze.
Just do that. If they say they are going to release Linux on X date then you can pre-order/donate in anticipation of that, if you really want to. Or you can wait for reviews. Or you can wait until the amount is at the level that you feel is morally agreeable for donation, if any, or which simply aligns with what you can afford.

I do quite agree with it, it’s absolutely unfair to linux gamers that we’ve pre-ordered a game, which was listed as multi-OS & a release date, which I was excitedly waiting for, only to find myself in a slight panic when I saw the game was released, but I didn’t have an install button. Then I clicked the game store page to find «Windows ONLY» on it, instead of supporting of Linux as it used to have an icon of. I was afraid I had just completely wasted $24USD on getting both the Redux versions and they were going to be Windows only. After a frantic search online, I found the link I posted above and was relieved to hear we weren’t simply scammed with false hopes. However it’s incredibly unfair that they declared the game to be for Linux with the pre-order when it wasn’t actually releasing for Linux.
I am still glad to have been able to buy the games at a cheaper price, so I am not horribly upset, I just feel the sting of being backhanded by them and treated like EA treats their customers.
I don’t expect a high priority toward linux from game companies yet. It’s a great start to see some real games finally being offered to linux. We’ve got the new Borderlands coming up that’s supposed to have a linux release.. there’s X-COM that was ported over (very successfully, too), Civilization V, and then of course there’s just the plethora of indie games that most of run flawlessly. So, it’s going t be a rough beginning for a new targeted platform, as to be expected, but I hope that game by game, we’ll gain more and more popularity from developers.
