Давным-давно, когда OS X была еще MacOS, многие, очень многие пользователи использовали музыкальный плеер ToolPlayer, так как он был красив, удобен, быстр и понимал кучу форматов. Позже автор назвал его Vox, еще позже — автор перестал его развивать. Неизвестно как, но разработчики компании Coppertino договорились на счет передачи им исходных кодов, и больше года колдовали над ними, очень многое поменяв и переработав, и сегодня они представляют свое детище публике под старым именем. Встречайте — Vox.
Интерфейсно Vox невероятно прост, он напоминает классические плееры типа того же WinAMP: небольшое окошко с органами управления и открывающийся внизу плейлист. Те, кто по разным причинам не любит iTunes, могут начинать пить за здоровье разработчиков: в плей-листы можно просто закидывать файлы с диска и не особо париться поддержанием порядка в библиотеке. Те, кто привык к аккуратности и упорядоченности iTunes тоже могут начинать пить по тому же поводу: Vox работает с библиотекой iTunes. Те, кто любит слушать онлайн-радио — ну вы поняли, что вам надо делать, правда же?
Не буду подробно расписывать интерфейс, тем более он и без того простой и понятный, в нем есть все, что надо: поиск, работа с плейлистами iTunes, эквалайзер с предустановками, выбор устройства для вывода звука и многое другое. Традиционно присутствуют показ обложек в доке и управление через иконку (есть вариант с одной иконкой и четырьмя) в области уведомлений в меню.
Бинауральный преобразователь преобразовывает обычные записи в бинауральные (точнее их имитацию), то есть запись, выполненную с помощью двух микрофонов и специального имитатора человеческой головы. Такие записи в наушниках звучат с трехмерным эффектом.
Интеграция Vox в систему — отдельная песня. Можно задать горячие клавиши для управления плеером, но на самом деле этого делать наверняка не придется. Дело в том, что с сайта Coppertino можно скачать специальную панель для настроек, которая позволяет плееру полностью заменить iTunes: он будет управляться мультимедийными кнопками на клавиатуре, будет запускаться при нажатии Play, им можно будет управлять с кнопок гарнитуры и пульта Apple. Кстати, Vox также умеет ставить воспроизведение на паузу при отключении наушников, как плеер iPhone. Так же, как iTunes, Vox умеет включать паузу при звонке в Skype. Есть интеграция с программами Bowtie и Take 5. Думаю, в будущем нас ждут еще интеграции, например просто напрашивается интеграция с Alfred.
