How to Install Mac OS X theme on Elementary os 5.0 Juno
The new version 5.0 of elementary OS is released on October 2018 called “Juno”. This version is based on Ubuntu 18.04 and comes with so many new features and redesign.
It has some new features like a Night light, Improved app center, new system sound for notification, keyboard layout like Mac OS, New text editor code and so many other features.
It also comes with a major change in design with a new look and feels because of latest Gtk+. And now it introduced its official color palette. So now icons and other things will look more uniform.
All we know that Elementary OS is already known for its Mac OS like user interface and we love that and even it is completely free.
But now you make your Elementary OS look even more like Mac OS X by installing a theme on your Elementary OS Juno.
Install Mac OS X theme on Elementary OS Juno.
- First download Theme from here.
- Extract the downloaded file.
- Now install Elementary tweaks by next three commands in the terminal. (Make sure your internet connection is working)
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip.scott/elementary-tweaks
- sudo apt-get update
- sudo apt-get elementary-tweaks
- Open usr/share/icons as administrator then paste both icon folders Dark-Mode and Light-Mode.
- Open usr/share/themes as administrator then paste all theme folders Sierra-dark, Sierra-dark-solid and Sierra-light-solid.
- Open System setting>Tweaks>Change Gtk+ and icons.
- And also change layout to OS X.

Elementary OS is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu. Up to now, elementary os has released 4 versions. Loki is the 4th version i.e. the newest elementary distribution. Elementary OS is beautiful and lots of fans have contributed to make it more attractive. In this repository, I keep some creative resources of other friendly github users. Using these resources and follow the following instruction, we can get a macOS-style elementary Loki.
First download all the files to a local directory via:
Then copy Arc theme to system or user theme direcory via:
Copy la-capitaine-icon-theme to system or user icon directory via:
Then you need to adjust serival system setting to apply the theme and icon suite. For simplity, it is highly recommended to install elementary tweak toolkit. To instal elementary tweak:
Now go to «setting->tweaks» to set GTK theme,icon and layout as I do: 
In order to customize the appearance of dock,copy dock theme file under plank-theme directory to system or user dock theme directory via:
Then right click on the edge of dock to set dock preference.

A GTK theme for elementary OS Loki and Juno, inspired by macOS.
*Contains appearance correction for GTK applications

Fork of the Default Gtk+ Stylesheet for elementary OS with OS X window controls
The forked Gtk.CSS stylesheet with OS X window controls is designed specifically for elementary OS and its desktop environment: Pantheon. Since Gtk.CSS has changed quite a bit, this stylesheet only supports Gtk >= 3.22
Elementary-X is available in two variants
- Traffic lights window controls
- Re-designed widgets to look cool
- Always up to date with original elementary-os stylesheet
You’ll need git to install this theme
- Open terminal and execute the following
- Select this theme in tweak tool or execute the following
- Thats it you’re done!
Note: To install it globally i.e. for situation when you run apps as root or specially SNAP packages move your theme to /usr/share/themes
- Refer here to see how to set DARK MODE
- The icon theme used is La Capitaine. (Use install_fixed_icons.sh to install a fixed version of icon theme for eos)
- The folder also includes plank themes! To install just use the install_plank_themes.sh script
- Chrome themes will be included soon..
- There are metacity and xfwm4 themes wich are for other desktop environment use.
- There is no gnome-shell theme as it is ment for elementary gala de.

This stylesheet doesn’t need to be compiled. It is recommended to make a symbolic link from the source directory to «/usr/share/themes» for testing:
Apps will need to be restarted or the system stylesheet will need to be changed for your changes to take effect.
You can also test changes live with Gtk Inspector. Make sure you have Gtk development libraries installed:
Open an app you wish to test your changes on. Open Gtk Inspector with the keyboard shortcut Shift + Ctrl + D, then navigate to the tab «Custom CSS». Your changes here will take immediate effect on the focused app.
OSX Theme for elementary OS
I like to theme elementary OS loki but i can’t find some icons, plank and wingpanel that is similar to OSX sierra. Where should i find it?
elementary OS is beautiful by itself but i’d like to try out some new theme so if its ok, can anyone help me? Thanks

I made a light and mac-ish theme that also targets some elementary OS specific features that are not so well supported in other themes (and no need to mess around with your GTK Version as this works under GTK+ 3.18.x)
- correct elementary OS specific and adaptive Wingpanel behaviour: dark transparent background with light and/or noisy wallpapers, fully transparent with dark and clean wallpapers, solid black with maximized windows.
corrected a graphic glitch with 3rd party themes in Photos by inserting the code from the og elementary theme from apps.css to GTK-3.18/gtk.css (.checkerboard-layout) (this issue here Weird graphical glitch in Photos (apps) )
changed transparency of Wingpanel from alpha 0.5 to 0.3 (readability is still there and it blends a little bit nicer with your wallpaper IMO).
Issues (any help or hints appreciated):
- Level-bar for drive capacity in Files sidebar now «almost» works. Background/border missing. — Please help? Where to tinker?
