USB device not recognized;driver version 6.1.7600.16445;__Port_#0003.Hub_#0001
I bought a new PC 2 weeks ago: HP Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (AMD Sempron LE-1250 processor; 2.20 GHz; RAM 3 GB.), and when the setup person finished setting it up for me, a pop-up box (balloon) appeared in the taskbar saying I had a USB problem. I asked the person to fix it, but he said not to worry about it because all the drivers were all right. (But I do worry about it!) The alert appears each time I restart the computer.
The alert says: «One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.
USB: Unknown Device
DRIVER VERSION: 6.1.7600.16445 (date by Microsoft 6/21/2006)
DEVICE STATUS: «Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43).»
DRIVER DETAILS: «No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device.»
UPDATE DRIVER: Results say, «The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.»

FYI: I don’t know if this makes a difference, but I have an HP deskjet 6127 printer. the setup person could not locate a driver for it, so he found a compatible driver (something like 930?), and the printer works just fine.
I’ve spent the last 2 weeks off and on trying to solve this problem, and only a few minutes ago did I run across the following informaton after I searched «Driver Version 6.1.7600.16445».

AND IT «PARTIALLY» STATES:
HP has submitted a software update (SoftPaq SP44620) to HP Customer Care containing Microsoft’s QFE KB976972 update to resolve USB issues on certain HP consumer desktop systems:
1) System is running Windows 7
2) System has an nVidia chipset
3) System has 4GB of RAM or more
The update has been submitted to and is in process to appear on the software and driver download page for the affected systems, however here is a direct link to download it now:
Customers who have already downloaded the QFE update from Microsoft’s support site do not need to reapply it.

The above instructions say that the System has 4GB of RAM, or more. and I only have 3GB, so that confuses me. AND, since I don’t know if the above issue really pertains to me, there is no way I’m going to download something of which I am unsure of .
OK, I know this is lengthy, but I hope I’ve included enough information for someone to actually help solve my problem.
EDIT: UPDATE. I just discovered that I do have the KB976972 update installed ; I missed it the first time I looked somehow; sorry! SO. this means my problem is something else.
UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED!
My «USB:Unknown Device» turned out to be my deskjet 6127 series printer that my PC setup person couldn’t get to work for me, necessitating him to choose a 990c model driver substitute from the internet instead.
I had run «troubleshooting» before, but this time was different for me, and this is what happened:
Go to :
(1) Control Panel
(2) Select: Action Center
(3) Select: Windows Program Compatibility Troubleshooter (bottom left-hand side of page)
. Select: Troubleshooting
(4) Select: Hardware and Sound
. Select: Configure a Device
(5) Click: Next
After I clicked on «Next», the troubleshooting began and all of a sudden my power went off totally (my lamp, too). but just for a «split-second» . and then the troubleshooting kept running for a few seconds longer; VOILA — MY PROBLEM HAD BEEN DETECTED AND SOLVED!
P.S. For what it’s worth, I felt the need to post my results here in hopes that maybe (. ) someone else «might be able to benefit somehow» (in some small way) from my problem-solving experience.

Win7 error Port_#0003.Hub_#0001

After installing win 7 I am down to only one error. The machine I am working on is:
Pavilion dv5-1200oe S/N
I am recieving an error under USB Controllers :
Other computers seems to have that error related to the fingerprintdriver, but this model has no fingerprint unit. Can anybody tell me wich driver I am missing?
Go into Device Manager, right click on the unknown device and select Properties. Click the Details tab, choose Hardware Ids from the dropdown box and post back with the details shown under Value.

Was any other device connected to the notebook when you were installing Windows 7?
Right click this device and select Uninstall. Scan for Hardware changes and if the device re-appears, check if there’s any more info under Hardware Ids.

I too am having the same problem. USB/UNKNOWN. There arent any hardware ids and it also reports an error code 43.
Port_#0001.Hub_#0003. I don’t know what to do at this point. I have done a fresh install with Windows 7 Home on a HP Pavilion dv6. Please HELP!!

Hello CH0D3. I understand you have some unknown devices in Device Manager.
You are most likely missing a driver. Have you tried installing both the HP Software Framework and HP Support Assistant. Then run the HP Support Assistant application. This will scan your system and attempt to install any missing drivers. After it performs the updates you should reboot your computer. Make sure to post the result.
It will also be helpful to have your notebook’s product number. This document can show you where it is located.
