Option 1 (Recommended): Update drivers automatically — Novice computer users can update drivers using trusted software in just a few mouse clicks. Automatic driver updates are fast, efficient and elimate all the guesswork. Your old drivers can even be backed up and restored in case any problems occur.
Option 2: Update drivers manually — Find the correct driver for your Game Controller and operating system, then install it by following the step by step instructions below. You’ll need some computer skills to use this method.
Option 1: Update drivers automatically
The Driver Update Utility for Saitek devices is intelligent software which automatically recognizes your computer’s operating system and Game Controller model and finds the most up-to-date drivers for it. Saitek X-55 Rhino or X-56 drivers
Comments
Hi, I’m having the same issue. I see some support for X52 and X56.
I tried the X56 drivers but when it says to connect the usb cable, nothing happens. So I’m guessing that this is not compatible.
I had the same issue, however I did manage to get around it. The software does contain the drivers, just hidden away.
While running the setup program, if you use task manager to find the process for the setup application, the selection open file location from the right-click menu, you should see the temporary location of the install files. Under there you will see a folder called INF which contains the driver files.
If you go to device manager and update the device drivers add for the joystick (should be called game controller, under human interface devices I believe) and point them to that folder it should detect and install them.
Hi @French990. Thanks for your help. I tried your suggestion which made sense and I was able to find the INF folder. But once I ran DM and asked to update the driver it said the one installed is a newer and better choice than the one I pointed to.
My issue may be slightly different as the Throttle and Joystick are working, what I have lost is the HUD software and therefore I cant program the units and use the .pr0 files that I have previously saved.
I’m having this problem since I have rebuilt my PC and inadvertently not saved this software and as the units didn’t come with software its left me high and dry.
Sorry to here that. It considered them the latest version why I tried, however I am using the X56, so perhaps that makes the difference.
This is directly link to the saitek driver downloads: ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/ , I managed to come across it when I initially googled the issue. However they drivers only work with the mad catz branded programming software (also available on the ftp site) not the Logitech branded version.

So, Logi_Makenzie, you want to tell us, that logitech will not support X55 Rhino stick with new drivers and software? Thats bad decision.
And French 990, thank you for direct link.
Well thanks for the link but ftp link just goes nowhere as it is unreachable for me. Can anyone else get the drivers for the x55? Could you let me know where they are please?
I have to say it’s a bit short sighted of Logitech to not support some thing that they have taken over.
Ignore my post above as I have found that the link that French990 and Logi_Makenzie has given else where works if you use Opera or Chrome to get to the FTP site. MS Edge has a problem going there for some reason, not sure what the problem is though.
I do apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you and I understand this may be frustrating. However, The X55 Rhino HOTAS has been out of production for some time now and is considered end of life. With that being said Logitech is no longer developing drivers for newer Windows Operating Systems. This does not mean your legacy product will not work with newer operating systems, however, it is not a guarantee. If you plug the device in it will attempt to install a compatible driver with that Windows Operating System that will give you limited functionality of the device. If it is not recognized, it is unlikely the device is compatible. It is just joke, Logi_Makenzie, right?
How old is X-52 and X-52 Pro and you still support drivers and software for them. You just lost another customer.
After you ******* Logi G940 customers abandoning driver support when the product was barely out of the door, I swore I would never purchase another Logi product again, which incidentally I have thus far stuck to.
Now here we are again, you buy rights to Saitek and ***** over X55 owners with a ******** excuse about driver support, disgraceful.
Hello MartinNs and Hex’caliber,
I understand the frustration and I do apologize greatly because I am merely customer support. I would be equally as frustrated. The X-56 is the replacement for the X-55 however we have not replaced the X52 and the X52 Pro and as such we are still making these products and that’s why the support is still there.
Logitech Customer Care
Wow! My X-55 is only two years old and still has some new on it and you tell us it is no longer supported. I have now lost total confidence in purchasing anymore product from Logitech.
Funny, I’ve just bought the X56 and am playing Kerbal Space Program with it and there are also no Logitech drivers for this new product. Or at least not separate from the software package. The driver installer did not complete (seems to be a common problem) and on the Logitech page the drivers only get mentioned in the X56 FAQ. I should head to the Saitek page, download their driver and do some regitry magic. On the Saitek site there is no X56 Rhino driver but a Pro Flight X56. The latter one links back to the Logitec X56 page that sent me to Saitek. Logitec dudes and dudesses, that’s messed up xD :/ . Obviously I need the driver to map keystrokes to buttons because my game (Kerbal Space Program) does’t see the difference between e.g. the trigger on the stick and button ‘E’ on the thrust. Both are recognised as «button 1» In Kerbal. Having the Mode switch work woud be nice also. Maybe I can find the drivers in some temporary folder from the software installation package. Or maybe go 3rd party though I don’t think it would that would be perfect (mode switch!).
Ah nevermind, .net framework 3.5 was missing. Thought I could get away with 4.5 but no. Still have the Kerbal problem, recognised only the raw input, not whatever button is set in the X56 software :/ . Kerbal’s joystick support was always messed up, hence my previous stick only worked via vJoy.
The X-56 is only a very minor change, including from what I have seen in teardowns the same design faults in the throttle as the X55 suffered from.
Seeing as people have reported the same issues with the X56 throttle as the X55 had, I would guess the electronics are the same except for a few additional channels and as such it would be mostly trivial to support the older unit with the same software as the new one.
The issue I have here is that this is not a cheap throw away and replace piece of hardware like a 20€ mouse, at give or take 250€ I do expect basic support for a lot longer then this especially as the latest release of the software is mostly a pile of ****.
You don’t drop support for this kind of hardware the minute you start selling the next iteration. The price point here is mostly the same as a mid range graphics card, so would you think it ok if nvidia or amd dropped all support for your graphics card as soon as they released the next generation?
