Hardware & Technical Saitek X52 Pro Driver Problems | Windows 10

I am having trouble getting my X52 Pro to work on Windows 10. It has worked before (I’ve owned it for about 6 months), but I’m not sure what caused it to cease working. The recent Windows update may be relevant, I’m not sure.

Nevertheless, when it is plugged in, everything is lit except the MFD and the throttle control position markers. It is listed as an «Unkown Device» in Windows Device manager. I’ve tried a clean install of the latest Saitek drivers (http://prntscr.com/9r2fid). During the installation process of the driver it prompts me to plug in the HOTAS but it does not recognize it. I’ve tried the 2 front USB 2.0 ports, 2 rear USB 2.0 ports, and a few USB 3.0 ports. I’ve also tried rebooting my computer and various combinations of having the HOTAS unplugged or plugged in prior to the driver install process.

Lastly, I’ve tried «Update Driver» in Device Manager but to no avail. (http://prntscr.com/9r2fbk)

I am considering reinstalling Windows 10, but I’m not sure if that will even work.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi as you might be aware by now that the saitek X52 does not like usb 3.. if you do a google search or even on this forum you will see alot of people have the same problem, yes incl me.. My problems started after i upgraded my motherboard and cpu. I reinstalled windows 7 without any problems, but as soon as i got too installing the X52 pro. I have nothing but problems. I did manage a work around (most buttons worked but not ll and no MFD lit up).

Now iv updated too windows 10 and back too square 1.. I am now in the middle of trying too find out the work around on this problem again. Once i find it i will copy and paste the link here BUT be aware its not straight forward.

Heyy fellas! Ran into the exact same problem. Had my X52’s for a while now recently got my new laptop installed my joysticks, then after recent windows update I realized that the mfd screen no longer lit up & drivers where showing as » unknown device «.

Tried uninstall and reinstalling drivers, I tried restarts and several methods, I tried compatibility modes but to to no success. Im unsure as to a solution so any help would be appreciated! Hopefully this will all be fixed up shortly..

My son gave me his Saitek X 52 with the disc that came with it it is as good as new.

When I use the disc to install the drivers I get an error and I can’t get some of the butons to work, or rather In the configuration screen they do but not when I go into options.
I have done a search to download up to date ones, but all of the sites want to scan my computer tell me how many drivers need updating, then want me to pay for what they call a free service. (I know they have to get there money somewhere)

Can anyone help and give me an idea where I can download these drivers.

Try the official site, they’re free from there. Download the profiler software too, you can de-clutch the button that won’t work, namely the (i) button as it’s set to clutch mode [yesnod]

By my recollection, the only thing I needed the driver software for was to turn off the clutch button (turning it into a normal button). The software is also useful for configuring throttle dead-zones and making the lights pretty colours, but virtually everything can be configured in Elite: Dangerous «options». FD’s support for this joystick is really good.

My memory may be playing tricks, though.

The link is 2015, but the link to the Software is not outdated all show 29th Oct 2016, so your advice is incorrect. perhaps you should read the link before posting.

And it’s NOT 3rd party Crap it is Saitek own ftp site. Really, some people!

For what is worth, i have an X52 too, even with the up to date drivers some of the buttons don’t work, like the pinky switch and the I(information) button on the throttle. I find a way to make it work tho, you need to go on the calibrating tab of your x52 and let it open when you play, and all your buttons will work.

(i’m sorry, it’s in french, but i think you can still see where to go on your settings options)

I know that’s not a great solution, but that’s the only way i find to make it all work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The product website links above are good.

The stick will work with standard drivers but the product drivers AND profiling software are needed for the following:
— Switching the «clutch» (i) button to be a standard button rather than being used as a special key within the stick that generates no button events to the OS.
— Switching away from the default profile — the stick display reads «no profile» on startup but this is misleading — there is a hardwired profile built into the stick that sets the scroll wheel, mouse nub and its associated button to generate mouse events and sets the pinkie switch into «shift» mode. This takes the pinkie switch out of play for use in the game, since it doesn’t recognize the sticks modes and shift states.
— Any assignment of multi-key presses or macros to a single button.
— Any assignment of shift states to the stick (I usually just use the three modes available on the sticks thumb wheel — besides remapping the button bindings I trigger macros on mode switching)

ETA: I’ve been using a X52 for nearly 10 years and know the software and its behavior pretty well, so if you need any hints about any of the more advanced stuff that’s possible (or notes on what’s NOT possible with the sticks own software) just PM me and I’m happy to help.
