Выпущены приложения Signal для Windows, macOS и Linux
Компания полностью отказалась от приложения Signal Desktop для браузера Google Chrome. Раньше это был единственный способ использования Signal на ноутбуке или компьютере.
По функциональности новые приложения полностью идентичны версии для Chrome. Однако, пользователям больше не нужно устанавливать Google Chrome. чтобы воспользоваться коммуникационным сервисом.
Тем не менее, есть определенные ограничения. В частности, Signal Desktop для Windows поддерживает только 64-разрядные архитектуры. Клиент Windows работает только в Windows 7 или более поздних версиях, а клиент Mac работает с macOS 10.9 и выше. В Linux приложение доступно только для дистрибутивов Linux, поддерживающих менеджер пакетов apt — т.е. для Ubuntu, Debian и их производных дистрибутивов.
Обратите внимание, что для использования настольных версий вам все-равно нужно будет в первую очередь установить приложение Signal на свой смартфон. Нужно будет отсканировать QR-код и связать приложение Signal Desktop с учетной записью Signal, которая может быть создана только через мобильные приложения.
Также предусмотрена возможность экспортировать данные из приложения Chrome и импортировать его в новые приложения Signal Desktop.

Signal Desktop is an Electron application that links with Signal on Android or iOS.
You can install the beta version of Signal Desktop alongside the production version. The beta uses different data and install locations.
- Windows: First, download this file and look for the url property that specifies the location for the latest beta installer. Download the installer by constructing a final URL that looks like this: https://updates.signal.org/desktop/ . Then run the installer.

. Then unzip that package and copy the .app file into the /Applications folder using Finder.

Использование мессенджера на ПК
Существует два варианта, как запустить Signal Private Messenger на компьютере или ноутбуке. Во-первых, сделать это через официальный клиент от разработчиков, но с серьезными ограничениями. А во-вторых, запустить под Виндовс или Мак ОС полноценную версию приложения с помощью Android-эмулятора. Разберемся с каждым из них.
Вариант 1: Официальный клиент
На странице https://signal.org/download/ официального сайта доступны для загрузки три версии официального клиента Сигнал Мессенджера: для Мака, Виндовс и Линукса. Причем в последнем случае открывается список консольных команд (три штуки) для загрузки и инсталляции deb-пакета. В Mac OS нужно скачать zip-архив, дважды кликнуть на него, чтобы произошла распаковка, а потом установить app. В случае с Windows загружается исполняемый файл. Запустите его и ждите, пока не завершится процедура.
Следующий этап — авторизация через мобильное устройство. На смартфоне или планшете откройте приложение Signal, вызовите его меню и откройте пункт «Настройки». Здесь нужно перейти в «Привязанные устройства», а потом нажать на кнопку добавления. Далее, наведите камеру на отображаемый QR-код и тапните по надписи «Привязать устройство».
Вариант 2: Эмулятор Android
Как можно понять из вышесказанного, официальная программа не предоставляет полноценный доступ к мессенджеру. Она способна работать в связке с синхронизированным мобильным гаджетом. Но возможность использовать функции Signal Messenger на компьютере или ноутбука без каких-либо ограничений все же есть.
Речь, разумеется, об эмуляторе Андроида. Так называется специальная программа, через которую получится открыть любое мобильное приложение на ПК. Подобного софта для Windows или Mac OS довольно-таки много. Но мы советуем работать с Nox App Player.
