as i was searching for a possibility to play Spellforce using wiedescreen i found that wsgf widescreen fix is not available anymore on their website. However, the fix is available as an optional file in the «Return of Rune Warrior» mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/spellforceplatinumedition/mods/2?tab=files&file_id=4
I uploaded it separately here for better visibility as it took me quite some time to find a working widescreen fix. Supported resolutions:
- 1024×600
- 1280×720
- 1280×768
- 1280×800
- 1360×768
- 1366×768
- 1440×900
- 1600×900
- 1680×945
- 1680×1050
- 1920×1080
- 1920×1200
- 2048×1152
- 2560×1080
- 2560×1440
- 2560×1600
I did not create this mod, so unfortunately i don’t have a solution for higher resolutions.
Spellforce platinum edition разрешение экрана 1920 на 1080 windows
SpellForce: Platinum Edition
Whenever I start the game I get a error saying I don’t have the desired resolution.
I saw the fix of using config.lua but I can’t find that in my local game files. Where is it? Or is there something else I have to do.
I do not have a config.lua
Googling gave me one to use, but that didn’t work either.
The log file in Documents\SpellForce, has a lot of «[INFO][UTL]: Error reading the config file config.lua. Default values used.» ending with «[TERMINATION] UTL_QuickIntegrator::CreateDisplay()
Desired resolution not found. Please install latest drivers!»
Any ideas? Anyone have a working config.lua that can be posted for me to use?
For those who have this problem in the future:
I used the information in the thread located on this board (Thread Name: CD key, Rising Black Screen & Resolution Fix) to get to the following webpage: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=23880&start=50
This had a 7zip file with a modified executable for specific resolution screens. Replacing the STEAM executable with the one for my screen resolution allowed this to work without the config.lua file. I have been able to play, save, load, etc without problem since making this replacement.
Godspeed future problem havers.
When you open Local Files, you should be able to click on «config» right there
This is what it shows for me:

We have worked on a version that brings back multiplayer, adds NAT traversal support, widescreen resolution support and compatibility with current Windows version.
Update April 27:
This is now live.
So, i have tested it and for me it is quite terrible. I’m running Spellforce on an old Win XP computer and whenever i try to load an existing free game mode char, it says the character files are currupt. Also, after starting the beta mode, all character names would be redcued to the initial letter, for example MegalomaniacNG would be reduced to «M».
I can’t load any campaign either, because it says date of the savegame is newer than the date of the game. Upon starting a new character i saw several bugs, including the name reduced to one letter after successfully starting a new campagin. Also, the bar for life and mana appear as one thick blue line. When i try to save the game, it crashes back to desktop again.
I’d love to help you by posting my dxdiag, but it says posts must be less than 18.000 characters.
That´s amazing! Hopefully it works!
I have tried it as well on a Win 7 computer and I have the same problems as Gim. On top of that I noticed, that it is now possible to indeed open a internet game, but it tells me my char would be lvl 0 and does not display any name in the lobby. As no other players where nearby or other games open, I couldn´t try connecting with anybody. But as I´m told in singleplayer (of freegame), that my files are corrupt, I believe it would happen on a multiplayer setup as well.
My Singleplayer chars have at least the right name, but I can´t load their savefiles either. I haven´t tried creating a new char however.
update: I tried creating a char in free game mode. It worked so far, as I could enter a name (although it was shortend to one letter) but the game appeared to work normal. It crashed, when I tried to save the game however.
