Steam skin windows 8

Steam skin windows 8

My curiosity got the best of me so I looked into adding support for the new library. I was initially planning to wait for the stable release for fear it would break Metro users not yet on the beta, but it turns out that fear was unwarranted! A fix is possible that supports both the stable and beta releases! This release also includes a couple of layout bugs I found while looking around the client. Check out out the full changelog below!

Edit:
Getting a few questions in the comments about what this update means. Without it, if one uses the Steam Library beta release with Metro 4.3.1 installed you’ll get a blank screen with some strange bits in the upper-left corner. If you’re on the beta release and have 4.4 installed, you’ll notice that it adds support for the new Steam library as-is with some additional layout fixes. If you’re on the stable release, you should only notice the layout fixes. This update won’t enable the new library automatically.

In regards to skinning the new library, I’m reading that it’s possible by overwriting default Steam files. That’s pretty dang cool, but I have no plans to release any Metro updates utilizing this method. I’m hoping that in the future Valve will add a skin system/selector similar to what Steam supports now. Until then, we’ve got a bit of a hybrid thing going on!

I just wanted to drop in and share some details regarding Metro and the new Steam Library beta.

We are, indeed, approaching the end of an era as Valve introduces newly overhauled portions of Steam. With these overhauls comes the lack of ability to officially theme the client like we could in the past. One can hope that Valve reintroduces theming support at some point in the future! Should they not, then I would be remiss if I didn’t say that this was one hell of a ride! That said, I’m really glad we experienced it together.

Until next time,
Dom

Looks like my suspicions were true, and the beginning of the end has begun.

While the screenshots do look nice from a features standpoint, this does seem to be a migration over to the Chat back end, rather than VGUI.

We’ll know more as we get closer to the beta rollout but I think this might be it.

Hey! Fixed an issue that caused some of the nav-bar items to re-position strangely if you re-sized the Steam window.

If you’d like to support me outside of Metro, please take a listen to my music on Bandcamp [domdraper.bandcamp.com] or any of your favorite streaming sites!

Long time, no see! Sorry for the delay on this, but I’m here with a Metro update that adds support for Valve’s latest changes to the Steam client. I’ve also fixed the Interface page in settings and the new options for the taskbar popup. Lastly, the mega menu has been cleaned up to exclude any options found under the new «me» panel as well as any options that simply don’t work anymore, like the video drivers settings. Big props to RedSigma for supporting this latest update with the Unofficial Patch, and lordcrypto for spearheading PR!

If you notice anything weird, please let me know!

I’ve also made some minor updates to the Metro website. The link to the video on YouTube as well as any monetary donation options have been removed. If you’d like to support me outside of Metro, please take a listen to my music on Bandcamp [domdraper.bandcamp.com] or any of your favorite streaming sites!

As always. thanks for your patience and for loving Metro! I can’t believe how many of you have reached out about this latest update, and I apologize for not responding to each of you personally! Do know that I’m reading!

Edit:
Sorry about the Steam Wallet issue. Adjusted it, re-tested and everything should be good now. Please re-download!

Sorry about the avatar blurriness, Valve opted for a really small image size on this one. Even the friends list avatar at the top is pretty blurry, yet hovering over it reveals a panel that has a much higher resolution image. I’m hoping they change their mind and add support for a better image in the future!
