Install Windows 10 Mobile on unsupported Lumia
Hello everyone, 
I am interested, is there any way to install Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia 925? Maybe some hack or editing the registry will help? Please help me ))))
Install the Windows Insider app and select the release preview ring.
No need to mess with the registry.
It will install the latest TH2 Build (10586.164)
It has installed 10586.107 why?
EDIT: It now started downloading .164
One more question: What about Redstone builds? How can I install them?

For Redstone builds you need to fake an entry in the registry.
To be exactly in HKLM—>SYSTEM—>Platform—>DeviceTargetingInfo change the entry in PhoneManufacturer from NOKIA to MicrosoftMDG
But beware, major bugs can occur since your device is not supported officially.

I have a HTC One M8 Windows running 10586.164; that said if you’re attempting to run the very latest builds which as of this typing is 14295. Microsoft releases a list of supported devices and the Lumia 925 and the M8W are not on the list and trust me, I’m not happy about their decision and I blame HTC too; a two year promise that has been deliberately broken and for HTC users this is twice and I don’t care what some post about their decision being faired; I’m sick of the general device manufacturers thumbing their noses up at us and if the Tech Previews work on our device then why can’t the gold release be made to work on ours too.

I can’t install redstone on my Lumia 520,because i can’t install vcREG and CustomPFD.
I’ve set my phone to developer mode in the developer options settintgs page,and after that i tried to deploy vcREG and CustomPFD to my phone with application deployment tool from windows phone sdk 8.1.When i try to deploy vcREG,the app deploy says the app manifest could not be loaded or not valid,and when i tryed to deploy CustomPFD it throws this error code: 0x81030120.what can i do?i have 10586.164 build of w10m,and i’ve tried any other methods (for example root tool’s interop unlock),but nothing worked for me :/

First of all before you will attempt to install Redstone on your device I want to say to you that Redstone on my Lumia 925 was not stable enough. Yes, it was faster than 10586.164 build but it had some bugs listed below:
1) When SIM card is inserted you can’t get any notifications and when you try to download app from the store, store freezes. If you will remove SIM card from your phone you will get notifications and store will work properly.
2) If you will reset your phone you will stuck on Welcome Back screen. (If you want to avoid that you need to remove SIM card from your phone)
2) Phone has also charging bugs.
3) Phone restarts very often.
4) Sometimes phone can’t find any Wi-Fi. (Restart helps)
So this are the bugs that I noticed when using latest Redstone build on my Lumia 925. If you want to install it anyways I have some suggestions.
1) Restore your phone to Windows Phone 8.1 and ensure that extras+info will not get any update.
2) Install only Windows Insider app and choose Release Preview.
3) When you will install build 10586.164 make reset and again don’t update extras+info. (Turn off auto update in store)
4) Choose Developer mode and deploy vcREG. Before you deploy CustomPFD go to templates in vcREG app and click on first and fourth checkboxes and hit apply(or something like that) then deploy CustomPFD.
If you will update extras+info you will not be able to deploy this apps. If you will deploy CustomPFD without using vcREG you will get error: 0x81030120

Failed to run sdkmanager —list with Java 9
I downloaded and installed:
- JDK ( jdk-9.0.1_osx-x64_bin.dmg ) from Oracle here
- Android SDK ( sdk-tools-darwin-3859397.zip ) from Google here.
After configuring the PATH variable, I tried running sdkmanager , which replaced the android command for managing SDK components. However, it failed as shown here:

With the help of this answer, I successfully solved the problem.
We are going to apply a fix in sdkmanager . It is a shell script. It is located at $android_sdk/tools/bin , where $android_sdk is where you unzipped the Android SDK.
- Open sdkmanager in your favorite editor.
Locate the line which sets the DEFAULT_JVM_OPTS variable. In my copy, it is at line 31:
Append the following options to the variable: -XX:+IgnoreUnrecognizedVMOptions —add-modules java.se.ee . Please pay attention to the quotes. In my copy, the line becomes:

Please note that you may need to apply the fix above again after running sdkmanager —update , since the sdkmanager shell script may be overridden if the tools package is updated.

You can set sdkmanager options with SDKMANAGER_OPTS.
The accepted answer is outdated as of February 2019. Here’s an answer that will work until sdkmanager migrates to a newer version of Java. But by then, you won’t have this problem anymore.
OpenJDK 10 was superseeded by OpenJDK 11, which doesn’t implement java.se.ee at all. This means that the hack of adding —add-modules java.se.ee doesn’t do anything anymore. It also means that OpenJDK 10 will be automatically removed from your system and replaced with OpenJDK 11 the next time you update, if your updates are configured properly.
