Operating system is not presently configured to run this application error
After upgrading to windows 10 this error appears periodically with no information where it is coming from.
Task manager shows it as COM Surrogate and details say it is dllhost.exe.
I assume this is coming from a background or scheduled task? How can I determine where this error is coming from and correct/remove?!

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I cannot try it now.
Last night I started repeatedly getting a blue screen crash with ‘driver IRQL not less or equal’ about every 10 to 15 minutes. This was after a few days of running Win10 successfully without issue.
The last time it happened, when it rebooted, the start menu would not open, Cortana search would not respond and the Edge icon disappeared. I tried rebooting several times and did manage to get into control panel and check for updates — there were none. I decided at that point to revert back to Windows 8 as I needed the machine today.
Hopefully I will be able to try 10 again. Any suggestions before the next attempt?

I had the same error on my PB Easynote. The message «GREG This operating system is not supported by this application» appears on startup and after 20 minutes and so on.
Solution (on a Packard Bell machine):
- Right-click on the start-button (bottom left on your screen)
- click on text «control panel»
- click «uninstall a program»
- Scroll down until you see several lines with Packard Bell software.
- Mark the line containing «Packard Bell Registration software/tool»
- click uninstall in the table header.
This solved the problem for me.
«PB registration tool» uses GREG. After uninstall the GREG-files is removed from your system.
The message don’t appear on my system anymore.
If don’t have registered your machine already; please use the registration tool to register your hardware before you uninstall.

This operating system is not supported by this application
As of right now I am not sure if I am running W10 32 or 64 bit.
I am constantly getting a pop up window after upgrading to windows 10.
Running a brand new HP Officejet Pro 6830, Packard Bell desktop imediaS3810, 64 bit OS.
Any ideas as to what the hell it is complaining about? My PC, my printer or some other problem?
Thanks for any and all help sent my way.

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
I read your post about the popup problem and wanted to help — but need more information, first.
Is this even an HP PC — asking because your post mentions Packard Bell.
Please follow the directions in this link to find the detailed product number of your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001
Also, I see you upgraded to Win10. How long ago was that, and what was the prior OS?
We can proceed once you provide the answers.

As posted before my computer is an Packard Bell imedia I6620 NC from 05-11-2010. SNID 01902612327.
Windows 7 Home Premium OA ACER Group.
This problem started right after I updated to 10 3 days ago.
I also have an HP Compaq LA2205wg moniter and a HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer. My extra moniter is a flat screen JVC 37 inch tv.
I also just noticed thatthe window that pops up does so on the hour and half hour. 08:00, 08:30 09:00 etc.
Sorry, I know nothing about PB machines, but my guess is that this is some holdover from the Win10 Upgrade that does not run under Win10.
I would open Task Manager and see what is running and see if you can determine which task is doing this.
If you can, you can then go into startup options and disable that app from launching anymore.
