Context menu in file-open/save dialogs on x64 OS
On x64 versions of Windows 7 and 8, the TortoiseSVN context menu and overlays won’t show for 32-bit applications in their file-open/save dialogs until you install the 2017 C-runtime for x86. (select the vc_redist.x86.exe file for download).
Note: this only applies to 32-bit applications on x64 OS. The Windows explorer is not affected by this.
Pre-Release Builds
If there is a bug in the latest released version which you really cannot live with, and which has already been reported as fixed, then you can try installing a pre-release build from the stable release branch.

Forthcoming Releases
To find out what is happening with the project and when you can expect the next major release, take a look at our project status page.
Stable Branch Builds
We maintain ongoing Release Candidates as well. These contain the latest official release plus latest bugfixes and will eventually become the next official release. They are not built nightly, but on demand from the current release branch, typically once a week if there has been any significant bugfix activity. If you find that a certain bug has been fixed and you do not want to wait until the next release, install one of these. Because they are built from the stable branch they should be completely compatible with the current official release and with other compatible Subversion clients. You would also help us tremendously by installing and testing release candidates. Note that the stable branch accepts bugfixes only, not new features.
Trunk Nightly Builds
Nightly Builds are available too. They are built from the current development head and are for testing only. This represents the bleeding edge and may be linked against a newer version of the subversion libraries than is used for the current release. Working copies may be upgraded automatically and become incompatible with the official release and with other subversion clients. We would love you to test these builds, but you should be aware of the potential problems and install only on a machine where your working copies are not critical. Note: This requires Windows 7 or above.
Older Releases
Older releases are available from the OSDN.net files section.
Source Code
TortoiseSVN is under the GPL license. That means you can get the whole source code and build the program yourself.
The source code is hosted on osdn.net in our own Subversion repository. You can browse the source code with your favorite web browser directly on the repository.
If you have TortoiseSVN installed, you can check out the whole source code by clicking on the tortoise icon below:

- SubWCRev – это инструмент для записи ревизии файлов, чтения статуса рабочей копии и добавления ключевых слов в файлы-шаблоны;
- TortoiseMerge – инструмент для решения конфликтов одновременного доступа к файлам, а так же применения небольших исправлений-патчей к проекту;
- TortoiseBlame – утилита для удобной навигации по изменениям, внесенными различными авторами;
- TortoiseIDiff – утилита для работы и сравнения версий графических файлов;
- TortoisePlink – консольная утилита для соединения с Subversion, использующая PuTTY Plink;
- TortoiseProc – монитор проектов;
- TSVNCache – утилита для кэширования информации отдельных процессов;
- также в программе есть несколько консольных утилит для управления Subversion.
Начиная с версии 1.9 TortoiseSVN прекратили поддержку Windows XP, пользователям этой операционной системы следует использовать версию клиента 1.8

TortoiseSVN is an Apache Subversion (SVN) client, implemented as a windows shell extension. It’s intuitive and easy to use, since it doesn’t require the Subversion command line client to run. Simply the coolest Interface to (Sub)Version Control!
Features of TortoiseSVN
Easy to use
- all commands are available directly from the windows explorer.
- only commands that make sense for the selected file/folder are shown. You won’t see any commands that you can’t use in your situation.
- See the status of your files directly in the Windows explorer
- descriptive dialogs, constantly improved due to user feedback
- allows moving files by right-dragging them in the windows explorer
All Subversion protocols are supported
Powerful commit dialog
- integrated spell checker for log messages
- auto completion of paths and keywords of the modified files
- text formatting with special chars
The big picture
- Can create a graph of all revisions/commits. You can then easily see where you created a tag/branch or modified a file/folder
- Graphs of commit statistics of the project
- Easy comparing of two branches or tags
Per project settings
- minimum log message length to avoid accidentally committing with an empty log message
- language to use for the spell checker
Integration with issue tracking systems
TortoiseSVN provides a flexible mechanism to integrate any web based bug tracking system.
- A separate input box to enter the issue number assigned to the commit, or coloring of the issue number directly in the log message itself
- When showing all log messages, an extra column is added with the issue number. You can immediately see to which issue the commit belongs to.
- Issue numbers are converted into links which open the webbrowser directly on the corresponding issue
- Optional warning if a commit isn’t assigned to an issue number
Helpful Tools
- TortoiseMerge
- Shows changes you made to your files
- Helps resolving conflicts
- Can apply patchfiles you got from users without commit access to your repository
- TortoiseBlame: to show blames of files. Shows also log messages for each line in a file.
- TortoiseIDiff: to see the changes you made to your image files
- SubWCRev: to include the revision numbers/dates/. into your source files
Available in many languages
TortoiseSVN is stable
- Before every release, we create one or more «release candidates» for adventurous people to test first.
- During development cycles, many people test intermediate builds. These are built every night automatically and made available to all our users. This helps finding bugs very early so they won’t even get into an official release.
- A big user community helps out with testing each build before we release it.
- A custom crash report tool is included in every TortoiseSVN release which helps us fix the bugs much faster, even if you can’t remember exactly what you did to trigger it.
