Что делать, если во время переустановки или восстановления macOS появляется ошибка «UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE»
Среди наших советов, есть статья об ошибке «Не удалось проверить эту копию программы. » возникающей во время установки старых версий macOS (OS X). Но это не единственная ошибка с которой Вы можете столкнутся при восстановлении или переустановке операционной системы, может появиться и другая:
Сразу хотелось бы уточнить, что данная ошибка возникает не у всех пользователей, а лишь у владельцев MacBook, в которых сильно износилась и требует замены батарея, либо же MacBook долго находился в разряженном состоянии. Если быть точнее, то у компьютеров не способных хранить текущую дату или компьютеров в которых Вы сами ее изменили на более старую.
Решение возникшей проблемы очень простое, нужно всего лишь установить правильное время. А как это сделать, читайте ниже
Как в режиме Recovery установить актуальную дату и время
- Запустите программу Терминал. Для этого в верхней строке меню нажмите «Утилиты» и выберите Терминал
- C помощью команды date можно посмотреть дату установленную на Mac, если же дата неверна, введите в терминале следующую команду и позвольте Apple сделать всю работу за вас:
При этом Mac должен быть подключен к интернет, иначе время не обновится. Если же у вас нет возможности подключится к всемирной сети, тогда потребуется самостоятельно установить текущую дату. Для этого воспользуйтесь той же командой date , только изменив ее параметры:
где mm — месяц (01-12),
dd — дата (01-31),
HH — часы (00-23),
MM — минуты (00-59),
yy — год.
К примеру, 10:30 1 февраля 2020 года будет выглядеть так date 020110302020

Here you will find a reply from Linc Davis with steps that have been recommended by Apple to resolve this issue:
From the menu bar, please select
▹ System Preferences. ▹ Date & Time
Select the Time Zone tab in the preference pane that opens and check that the time zone matches your location. Then select the Date & Time tab. Check that the data and time shown (including the year) are correct, and correct them if not.
Check the box marked
Set date and time automatically
if it’s not already checked, and select one of the Apple time servers from the menu next to it.
Please back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select My Certificates. In the list of certificates on the right, there may be one or more have a name that begins with «VeriSign». Export each such certificate by dragging it to the Desktop, then delete it from the keychain. If there are any certificates marked with a red «X» as expired or invalid, regardless of name, delete them without exporting.
Next, select Certificates from the Category list. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them has a blue-and-white plus sign in the icon, double-click it. An inspection window will open. Click the disclosure triangle labeled Trust to disclose the trust settings for the certificate. From the menu labeled
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
no value specified
Close the inspection window. You’ll be prompted for your administrator password to update the settings.
Now open the same inspection window again, and select
When using this certificate: Use System Defaults
Save the change in the same way as before.
Revert all the certificates with non-default trust settings. Never again change any of those settings.
Again, delete all expired or invalid certificates.
Log out or restart the computer. Test. If all is now well, back up again, then delete the certificates you exported to the Desktop.
How to Fix UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE Error on MacOS?
Macintosh Operating System or macOS (previously Mac OS X and later OS X) is officially an Apple operating system designed for Mac computers. It is based on the Unix operating system. The coding scheme is based upon technologies developed between 1985 and 1997 at NeXT, a company that was created by the Co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs.

When the user is trying to reinstall macOS or macOS Sierra, he/she may be encountered with an error as follows:
What Causes UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE Error?
After brainstorming user’s feedback in the online community, it has been identified that the main reason for this error is the incorrect system date setting. Now, this can happen if the user hasn’t used his/her Mac for a while or accidentally changed settings for date and time.
Method 1: Changing system date and time from Mac Settings
Use this method only if you still have access to old macOS installed. Otherwise, go for the second method. Follow these steps:
- Choose Apple menu and click System Preferences. Navigating to System Preferences
- Click Date & Time.
You may need to click the lock icon and then enter an administrator name and password. - Click Date & Time and set the date & time manually.
- Deselect Set date and time automatically and set today’s date on the calendar. Setting date & time manually
- Keep dragging the clock’s needles until it shows the correct time, then click Save.

Method 2: Changing system date from Terminal
Use this method only if you no longer have access to old macOS installed, as mentioned previously. Follow these steps:
- Go to Utilities and click Terminal. Opening Terminal from macOS Utilities
- Type the following command and hit Enter.
Opening Terminal from macOS UtilitiesThis command will result in the display of date to which the system currently has been set to. It might be reset to 2001 for some arbitrary reason, therefore, we need to set it to the right date.
To do this, type the following command and hit Enter.
Two-digit numbers based on UTC should be replaced with every bracket. You can see below, how the command should look like according to your current time and date – October 30th, 2019 01:15. UTC is used instead of other timezones to avoid trouble. Just enter it exactly like this:

How to overcome «UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE» during MacOS Recovery?
I am installing a different hdd in a Macbook Pro to give to friend. After highest security (7 pass) erase on the original disk, then install of MacOS Sierra I decided to go ahead and upgrade it to a larger used hdd. So after installing the drive and using internet recovery to perform the erase/highest security, I kept getting the error: «UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE», when trying to reinstall MacOS. (-_Q) #facepalm
WHATEVER shall I do.
(Hope you’ll pardon me. I am including the question I had in my mind, and will respond with the answer I found in a different thread involving OS X Lion Recovery. it worked for my dilemma involving MacOS Sierra, and if you’re having the same problem, you might be glad to come across this solution under the heading of the error you may be receiving. namely «UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE».

To fix the date execute: `date MMDDHHMMYY` (M=Month, D=Day, H=Hour in 24-hour notation, M=Minute and Y=last 2 digits of year).
After this you can install Mac OS. «
You are so right @snevas. I am installing Mac OS Sierra on that machine as I type my elated response.
This is a command to enter in the «Terminal» app available from the «Utilities» menu in the menu bar while in Internet Recovery Mode.
If we were performing/entering this command in Terminal right now, since it is 11:58pm (i.e. 23:58) on 10/10/2016, we would enter the following command: «date 1010235816» and then hit «enter».
Now that the system date and time has been corrected, we could try again to reinstall the OS, by choosing «Reinstall macOS» and if the certificate error was due to incorrect date/time, the reinstall should now proceed without a problem. (See the Apple knowledge base article: About macOS Recovery — Apple Support for additional information that might be helpful.

I ran into that post/solution before finding your post… Unfortunately I am running into this error as well but the big difference is that I had a hard drive failure, so I have a brand-new drive and there’s nothing on it, no way for me to get to utilities or get to the date and time… So I really have no idea what I should do. I am attempting to do an Internet install the new drives there, formatted properly, but when I try to do a reinstall of Sierra it gets that message. since I don’t have the utilities folder or any applications at all, I don’t know where to even check the date let alone set it… Does it even exist with blank hard drive?
Can someone please help? I was so excited to get this new drive installed and get my life back (haha) but I’m kind of stuck right now unsure how to move forward

Thanks Meg and @snevas. Giving my old Macbook pro to my brother in law and came across the same problem. I was a little worried that this may not fix my problem because I was not sure if the machine was new enough to handle Sierra. Tried it anyway and it is downloading Sierra as we speak. Fingers crossed that I do not run into any further issues, but thank you so much for posting this solution.

You might be running in a different timezone, that should fine.

If you have done an internet restore, you should find Terminal as an option in the menus.
Once you have done this, issue the command
to set the time from Apple’s time servers.
You should then be able to continue to install the OS.
