Since it only runs on Widows machines a workaround would be to create a partition on your Mac using Boot Camp so you can install Windows to run Visual Basic.
That’s a lot of work to go through just to use one app.

No. There are two way you can install Windows; either with BootCamp or with visualization software. BootCamp will allow you to reboot into Windows. While virtualization software will allow to execute Windows code while OS X is still running.

I am using VBA successfully in Mac Excel 2016.
- Go to Preferences
- Choose Ribbon and Toolbar in the first section (Authoring)
- Make sure Ribbon is selected
- Check the box next to Developer
It works pretty well but there is still some development to do. eg Intellisence is not yet available and debugging could be improved.
