Windows 10 — Could not update registry data in the installation

I’m attempting to install Build 10130×64 (from ISO CD created on a Win7 Pro laptop) on a desktop (Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2 MoBo, 160 GB Sata Drive). Have made five attempts, all with the same result: «The Installation was Cancelled».

In the Windows Setup, I deleted all partitions. then clicked on ‘New’. I specified the Primary Partition size as 33.5 GB. per instructions on this forum. A ‘Reserve’ 350 MB partition was automatically created. I then formatted the Primary partition.

The installation process proceeds until it is cancelled at the end of the ‘Installing Updates’ phase.

What am I doing wrong. Thanks for any help on this.

I ran Setup for a sixth time. This time I I turned off the computer and unplugged it to clear cache. I reformatted both partitions. This time, the setup stopped at the same spot. but gave the error code: 0X80FF0000. When I search the Forum for that code, I came onto a post by Moderator Andre Da Costa. indicating that the problem is the need to reformat the drive to provide a GPT rather than the MBR table:

— You need to convert the drive or partition from NTFS to GPT

1.Turn off the PC, and put in the Windows installation DVD or USB key.
2.Boot the PC to the DVD or USB key in UEFI mode. For more info, see Boot to UEFI Mode or Legacy BIOS mode.
3.From inside Windows Setup, press Shift+F10 to open a command prompt window.
4.Open the diskpart tool:

5.Identify the drive to reformat:

6.Select the drive, and reformat it:

Type:
select disk
clean
convert gpt
exit

7.Close the command prompt window.
8.Continue the Windows Setup installation.

When choosing an installation type, select Custom. The drive will appear as a single area of unallocated space.

Select the unallocated space and click Next. Windows begins the installation.

I have completed CMD based GPT procedure during Setup # 7. I expect that the Setup problem will be solved.

Question: Shouldn’t the GPT format feature be included in the Setup Menu along with the drive partitioning features?

Windows could not update registry data in the installation что делать

When running the W7 Setup program, it fails and displays the message «Windows could not update registry data in the installation». It happens just before the final step which would say «Installation Complete». How is one supposed to react to such a message?

For whatever it might be worth I have followed the procedure described in this article. The procedure has worked well when deploying other computers which happen to be desktop computers. This one is a laptop.

According to your description ,it is an automatic process and only this specific machine came across this issue ,right ?

We can not guarantee the request has been operated. We can try to manually format and install to have a check considering only this specific machine came across the issue.

Usually this is due to the disk not being configured correctly. Is this a brand new laptop or has it had an OS installed earlier?

Try and delete the current partitions using DISKPART so the disk is completely wiped and try again.

I agree with Andreas Molin, please try the following step to format the disk and then install to have a check :

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box,
type:
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL=»WINDOWS 7″
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT
