If you receive warnings that your virtual memory is low, you’ll need to increase the minimum size of your paging file. Windows sets the initial minimum size of the paging file at the amount of random access memory (RAM) installed on your computer plus 300 megabytes (MB), and the maximum size at 3 times the amount of RAM installed on your computer. If you see warnings at these recommended levels, then increase the minimum and maximum sizes.
1. Open System by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
2. In the left pane, click Advanced system settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Virtual memory, click Change.
5. Clear the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box.
6. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.
7. Click Custom size, type a new size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, click Set, and then click OK.
Increases in size usually don’t require a restart, but if you decrease the size, you’ll need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. We recommend that you don’t disable or delete the paging file.

I have a server with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and a few weeks ago is giving me the following error message every three days : » Windows successfully Diagnosed a low virtual memory condition. The Following programs consumed t he Most virtual memory: dns.exe (1764) 325197824 bytes consumed , MsMpEng.exe (928) consumed 71454720 bytes , and Microsoft Active Directory.Web Services.exe (1688) consumed 46202880 bytes .»
The server have two hard drives and I run a test and found no issue boths disks are fine. The server have 8Gb RAM. T he server has installed the following programs : an accounting software , Microsoft Security Essentials , a PDF reader and a client online backup . If I do not restart the server before the three days its become freezes and inoperable . T he problem occurs after months of all w ork fine . The server has one year of purchased.

What’s the swap file size set on the Server ? is that system managed ?
You might want to increase the swap file size on the server in question.

My server keep getting this error.
«Resource-Exhaustion-Detector
Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition. The following programs consumed the most virtual memory: AAAAAAA.exe consumed 30479142912 bytes, XXXXXX.exe consumed 782999552 bytes, and YYYY.exe consumed 744374272 bytes.«
From Microsoft Technet, this is normal behaviour.
However, everytime this error appear, it will stop my Antivirus services (which I need to run it back manually although it’s set as Automatically).
How can I fixed this for good?

svchost is a system host process and can’t be disabled.

From the error 7000, we can see it is caused by a memory issue. To resolve this, administrator needs to extend the «pagedpoolmemory» key by doing the following:
type regedit in Search box- change the registry key as below:
key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
Value: PagedPoolSize
Data: 0xFFFFFFFF
Then restart the pc.

From the error, we can see specific application which run out of virtual memory. It could be a memory leak or simply not configuring the paging file correctly. Once you run out of virtual memory, some application or service may start failing or crashing.
You can use Task Manager or Process Explorer to find if there is any other program causing low virtual memory. Then you can fix it by update the software or reinstall it. If that doesn’t help, contact the software support team for software problem.
In addition, you can also go to My computer-Properties-Advanced System settings-Advanced Tab-performance -settings-Advanced tab-Virtual Memory-Change-select the System managed size option or manually change the size of the page file. You can also use Memory diagnostic tool to check the RAM issue.
